Festival VerSus + Calasetta, Sant’Antioco Island (Italy)
The first festival of the VerSus+ project, organized by DIDA (UniFi) and DICAAR (UniCa) and attended by all partners, was held in the Sant’Antioco Island on April 25th – 27th 2022.
Heritage, sustainability and games
The festival was preceded by the workshop Heritage, sustainability and games, which started on April 21st . In this workshop architecture students from UniFi and UniCa, assisted by researchers of the project, worked on three main areas:
- Field research through interviews with local craftspeople and scholars, observations and direct survey. The aim was to to identify the characteristics of Sant’Antioco’s cultural heritage and to assess its environmental, socio-cultural and socio-economic sustainability principles.
- Design of thematic games on the cultural heritage of Sant’Antioco, as a dissemination tool to raise awareness about this heritage in a playful way for different audiences.
- Survey and documentation aimed at the recreation of a realistic virtual environment for the proposed games.
Festival VerSus + Calasetta
The festival included, among others, the following activities:
- A seminar entitled Experiences of pervasive gaming: cultural heritage, urban landscape and sustainability, by Erika Loria, Martina Lallai and Serena Lisai.
- Traditional serenades along the streets of Calasetta.
- Didactic itinerant lab to experience the Heritage for People App.
- VerSus+ conference and presentation of the results of the workshop Heritage, sustainability and games at the Museum of Contemporary Art (MACC).
- Collective game with the students of local schools.
As a result of the workshop and the festival, on 1st June 2022, the four games designed by students to know and disseminate the cultural heritage of Calasetta were presented in an online event.
