Which future for vernacular architecture & earthen architecture?
The international seminar Which future for vernacular architecture & earthen architecture?, organized by the UPT in the framework of the project, was held on June 15th and 16th 2022 at the Universidade Portucalense, Porto. The seminar provided an opportunity to discover and discuss outstanding contributions in relations to the following topics:
- Preserving the Past. Vernacular documentation & World Heritage.
- Valuing the Present. Intangible knowledge & knowledge transfer.
- Preparing for the future. Climate action & adaptation
The event also included a round-table discussion on the future of vernacular and earthen architecture; and two exhibitions, one featuring experimental portrayals through images, sounds, and sensations of vernacular architecture, and the other showcasing the constructive outcomes of the wood construction workshop.
